Samlesbury Hall

Samlesbury Hall is a very old, and slightly creepy venue, especially in the areas that are off limits to the general public. I had a little wonder around whilst the guest was enjoying their evening food, and being alone in the secluded areas of the house in the dark amongst the old furniture made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Putting a sign up saying ‘no public beyond this point’ was a natural invite for me to explore. According to Samlesbury Halls website, the building is renowned as one of the most haunted locations in Britain. Resident spirits include the legendary White Lady, Dorothy Southworth who died of a broken heart and has since been seen on many occasions within the Hall and grounds. As a wedding venue, it’s a fantastic and interesting place, the main rooms are very beautiful, boasting open wood fire places, solid wooden floors in a very vintage setting. From a DJ’s point of view, easy access and very good acoustics. However, it seems the old solid thick walls and wooden floors acted as a sound buffer, so fellow DJ;s and entertainers, I would recommend using a powerful sound system with sub bass bins in order to reach a sustainable and clear volume levels, especially if there are lots of people attending the event. The staff was very friendly and helpful too, and this venue gets the thumbs up from me!
